Good news, people! Safewise, a company that provides resources to finding you the best security systems based on the lifestyle you lead, has just released their annual report on “The 50 Safest Cities in Texas” and wouldn’t you know, three of our beloved Lake Ray Hubbard communities have made the list.
To identify the state’s safest cities, Safewise evaluated the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics from 2013. From there, they took the number of violent crimes, as well as property crimes in every city, then leveled the playing field by determining the chance of these crimes happening out of 1,000 people. When all was said and done…voila! “The 50 Safest Cities in Texas.”
This year Forney is named the 46th safest city due to the city’s active mobile alert system that keeps citizens involved, prepared, and active in crime prevention. Reports of both violent crime and larceny were reduced from the previous year’s already low numbers.
Number 40 on the list was none other than Rockwall, who although had an amazing increase in population of more than 1,000 new residents, saw a decrease in violent crime reports of almost 50%. In addition, property crime dropped from 858 reports to 733. The city’s police department offers excellent victim’s assistance, avid community service programs, and counts on citizens to be vigilant crime stoppers and it shows! Last year Rockwall made the list as well, with NO murders, NO arsons, and only eight robberies reported.
But that’s not all! Rowlett, who also made the list last year, is #32 on the list this year. The police force took on the challenge of reducing property crime throughout the city and it worked. Reports of property crime went down to 897 from last year’s 1,007.
Just a little food for thought from your friends at lakerayhubbardliving.com, because feeling safe is an extremely important part of being happy – wherever you live!
