Statue of Liberty

Today, I happened to have the opportunity to visit the Statue of Liberty. It was such a surreal experience, that I am including real pictures of the Statue of Liberty, although I am blogging about the Statue of Liberty in Forney. This statue was donated by the American Legion Post 591 of Forney, Texas in December, 1986. It is a miniature exact replica of the Statue of Liberty. This is a life size (average basketball player) statue which proudly stands to greet visitors to Forney or anyone passing down Highway 80 east. The statue is surrounded by the stars and stripes of the United States and Texas flags. Another reminder of the liberty we hold near and dear.

Does is seem like planning a birthday party for your children is a daunting task? Sweet and Sassy is your place for an unforgettable birthday party. It is located at 670 Square Beebalm Lane, Garland.

Not only do they have birthday party packages, they have salon services for girls and boys. They do haircuts for both girls and boys. Sweet and Sassy offers several specialty packages for girls.

My niece attended a birthday party at Sweet and Sassy on Saturday. She had an awesome time and she definitely had unforgettable time. The girls were picked up in a limo. They were allowed to pick out an outfit to wear, had their make-up applied, their hair styled, a mini-mani, and strutted down the runway. They were served birthday cake and ended the afternoon with lemonade.

Some of the unforgettable parties include Pajama Jam, The Ultimate Cheer, Perfect Princess, Fashion Diva, So You Wanna Be a Pop Star and Dream’s Spa Party. What a fun time with lights, camera, limo, ice cream. The girls can enjoy a Diva for a Day, Pampered Princess, Party Princess and Glittery Glam X-Press.

They have popular add-ons for their parties such as Logo T-Shirt, Build a Bracelet, Make Your Own Flip Flops, and Make Your Own Lotion.

Luigi’s

Luigi’s Italian Café is the place to dine if you are wanting some good Italian food. They are located at 2002 S. Goliad in Rockwall.

The hot bread will certainly start a good feast. The salad is a very tasty treat before you indulge your taste buds. Whether you order pizza, sausage, lasagna or spaghetti, you are in for a delightful lunch or dinner.

Luigi’s also has an extremely large private room available for your parties. I have actually been to an event in the private room that was not as large as the entire room so the room was shared with others. Even in this scenario, the service was phenomenal!

Luigi’s has great Italian food and they have extremely good service. My favorite thing at Luigi’s is the lasagna, but it is also my all time favorite Italian food. So whether you are craving some pizza or spaghetti, give Luigi’s a try and be sure to tell them that Lake Ray Hubbard Living.com sent you.

Girlfriends Boutique

There is just something comforting about a place named Girlfriends, right? Girlfriends Boutique is located on Main Street in Rowlett, Texas. Girlfriends has to be one of the cutest boutiques in the area! From the moment you walk in, your eyes will be blown away by all of the merchandise they have to offer. As I first entered the store I suddenly had the feeling of “Oh my goodness…shiny things”. But I was quickly distracted by another shiny thing. They offer so many things from jewelry, stationary, knick knacks, clothing, bows, spirit gifts and more! Being a mom of two boys I do not often get away with “blingy” things, so to spend an hour exploring Girlfriends Boutiques was a much needed mommy time out!

When I was in drill team in High School, there was not a place to buy Spirit Gifts for my big sister or little sister. I noted this while speaking with the shop owner, Cheryl Fitzgerald. She agreed with me and explained that is why she started Girlfriends Boutique. So, whether you are looking for a Homecoming Mum, a Good Luck item or something for your Senior; Girlfriends Boutique is your one stop shop for spirit gifts!

Whether you are 1 or 99, you can find something you enjoy at Girlfriends Boutique…grab your girlfriends and check it out (don’t forget to tell the Lake Ray Hubbard Living.com sent you)!

Baker’s Ribs

Baker’s Ribs is located at 488 Interstate 30 in Garland (I-30 and Belt Line Road), but they also have 9 other locations. This is a family-owned Bar-B-Que restaurant based out of Dallas. The family prides themselves on serving quality food with friendly service.

The Bar-B-Que is great. If you are really hungry, you can order a plate with one or two meats and vegetables. If you are not so hungry, their sandwiches are delicious and you can top it off with chips or veggies. I also love their loaded baked potatoes…it is so big it can be a whole meal.

You must try the peach cobbler. It will excite the taste buds and will not last very long. Of course, you can always top the cobbler with the soft ice cream. If you skip the cobbler, you can have the soft ice cream in a cone or cup.

Baker’s is a great place for your private party. They have a room which holds approximately 60 people. If you have a party over 40 they will set up the buffet in the party room. I have been to several events held at Baker’s Ribs from Rehearsal Dinners to organizational meetings…and they have never let me down!

Baker’s is available for catering parties or family events of 10 or more. From November 1 – December 31st, Baker’s will smoke your turkeys and hams. They also provide full holiday meals and they will deliver or you can pick it up.

Try Baker’s Ribs and be sure to tell them that Lake Ray Hubbard Living.com sent you!

Burger House

Burger House
Burger House is probably one of those places that I never would have tried without the persisting of my husband. I guess my opinion on burgers is that a burger is a burger is a burger, and obviously the male mind sees it differently. Burger House opened this year in Rockwall in the former location of Double Dave’s Pizza. The location is very convenient off of I-30 and 205.

We tried out Burger House with a large group. I love trying new places with others so I can include more information! The variety of food ordered ranged from Hot Dogs, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings, Shakes and Malts. The Hot Dog was actually a Chili Cheese Dog and it looked to die for! It received raving reviews, too! The Grilled Chicken Sandwich and the Grilled Cheese also looked good, but do you really go to Burger House and get a sandwich? I had a burger. I thought it was good, but a burger is a burger. Of course, that was my opinion and not all of the others I was with. Everyone raved on and on about how good the burger was. I know I am not the best judge of a Burger because I really just have an attitude of take it or leave it towards burgers in general. However, the burger connoisseurs with me loved it! One of my favorite parts were the fries and onion rights. They were cooked perfectly! And if you add their special seasoning salt….oh, they are scrumptious! Another thing that I really like at Burger House are the little boats for putting ketchup in! I hate going to places and having the little cups that only hold a teaspoon of ketchup! Thumbs up Burger House for doing ketchup right! The best part of Burger House was their shakes and malts! Now I am not a malt fan, but I love a good shake! The shakes have got to be the best I have ever tried anywhere! Seriously, the best! And they even offer cherry as a flavor, but I was not brave enough to try it!

All in all Burger House was 2 thumbs up from this non-burger loving person! Follow Burger House Rockwall or Burger House on Facebook.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a great place to spend any afternoon! They offer year round activities from plant sales, Dallas blooms, concerts, field trips, Christmas and more. It is not uncommon to see a bride getting bridal portraits taken on your visit to the Arboretum.

The Arboretum is on 66 acres East of Downtown Dallas by White Rock Lake. You can pay per visit or even become a member for relatively inexpensive. For Mother’s Day or any other day, why not take a trip out to the Dallas Arboretum and create more family memories!

Follow the Arboretum on Facebook.

The beautiful bride in the video is my best friend, Amber.
