Helping Hands

Helping HandsRecently, I was out showing homes and stumbled upon Helping Hands in Rockwall, Texas. I was unsure of what it was so I checked out their website. I discovered that Helping Hands is a charitable organization that assists Rockwall County by working with other organizations to provide assistance to citizens of Rockwall County. Some of the primary assistance offered are the Assistance and Referral Program, Heath Center and Thrift Store.

The Assistance and Referral Program is the backbone of Helping Hands. They have an application program and interview process to determine the needs. This program includes a food pantry, shelter, clothes as well as pairing the needs with other appropriate charitable organizations in Rockwall County. Churches, schools, organizations and even individuals help to supply the needs of Helping Hands and volunteer to help run the program.

The Heath Center serves under-insured and uninsured residents of Rockwall County. It is a community health center providing care for Rockwall County, which reduces the number of patients that would alternately turn to an Emergency Room for routine care. The Health Center provides low cost office visits, immunizations, labs and women’s wellness.

Helping Hands thrift StoreThe Thrift Stores are located in Rockwall and Royse City. They also have a boutique. The Thrift Stores are definitely a hidden gem in North Texas. I recently visited and was amazed at not only the set up of the Thrift Stores, but also the items that they were selling. They have household goods, clothing, shoes, books, furniture and more. I purchased 2 skirts for $3 each. I was amazed of the gorgeous formal wear that they also had in stock. The dresses were not expensive and probably had only been worn once. I would definitely recommend trying the Helping Hands Thrift Store as your first choice for a prom dress! The Thrift Store is seeking donations and will even pick up furniture.
